You probably remember the old object lesson about the rocks and the jar. The idea is that if you want to get a pile of rocks, pebbles, and sand into a jar, you've got to start w/ the big things (rocks), then the next, then the little things (sand) in the space that's left. This little story is useful when thinking about time management, but I'd like to use the same 'equipment' to make a different point about becoming and then being a sales leader.
So we have rocks, pebbles, and sand and a jar to fill. The filled jar is all the income we will make from Shaklee over a lifetime. Now let's see how to fill that jar.
Obviously if you put rocks in the jar, the jar gets filled really fast! The rocks are sales leaders. If you want to fill up your jar fast, it makes sense to get some sales leaders! So put those rocks into the jar. Fit in as many as you can. The biggest are Master Coordinators. So squeeze them in. Put a lot of effort into it because they're big contributors!
(You can have as big a jar as you want, by the way, so if you have a really big rock, maybe you need to get a bigger jar!)
When you don't have any more rocks at hand, add some pebbles. Pebbles are your builders and distributors. They fill up the jar pretty fast - not as fast as rocks of course, but still they do pile up! The nice thing is that while you're working to get a few rocks into the jar, you can be fitting in several pebbles. Your jar is filling up! Shake the jar a little and you can probably get a few more in - or get a bigger jar!
And then there's the sand. Even though you've been focusing mostly on rocks and some pebbles, the sand can contribute by filling in some of the empty spaces. Each grain of sand is a customer. Sprinkle them in and they will fill the spaces and really help fill up the jar!
So time goes by and you continue to fill the jar, which in the end is filled with rocks, pebbles, and sand.
But what if you don't have any rocks? Then it's all up to the pebbles and sand. It will take more, but it will still be possible. After all, there are a whole lot more grains of sand out there than rocks!
Now, herein lies a big truth: All the rocks we've got for our jar are actually just big piles of sand, all collected together. So it all starts with sand. Start adding sand to your jar. If some gather together into pebbles or rocks, all the better! Your jar will fill up as long as you add the sand!
